How to get there

We are very close to the Altamira Ranger Station, 16km by gravel road from the Las Tablas-Guacimo bus stop, 1h30 by car from San Vito in Southern Costa Rica.

Bus : some of the TRACOPA lines ( www.tracopacr.com ) run from San Jose to Panama and stop at "Las Tablas-Guacimo" (7h, good tar road, 8 dollars per person), just 16km from Asoprola lodge. From there you can take another bus (40mn, gravel road, 2 dollars) or arrange a direct transfer with us. It is a good idea to get a taxi to go directly from the airport to the right bus station and avoid staying for too long in San Jose city with all your luggage.

Shuttle : you can also arrange a shuttle to go directly from San Jose airport to Las Tablas-Guacimo with various companies like Interbus ( www.interbusonline.com ) (5h) or rent a car (4WD required most of the year outside tar roads).

Plane : you also have local airports all around Costa Rica with small plane links from San Jose (intl airport with Sansa airlines or national "La Pavas" airport with Nature Air airlines). San Vito is close to Altamira. Planes fares are typically around 100USD.

A typical 2 weeks itinerary would be to come by bus from San Jose to Altamira, stay one week, then take a taxi to Golfito, a fast boat to Puerto Jimenez and spend the second week in the Corcovado Park. From there you can fly (Drake Bay or Puerto Jimenez) directly in 1 hour to San Jose Airport.
