Ecotourism

Nature in Costa Rica is perfect, just come and enjoy it ! We have the La Amistad park of course, but also beautiful natural hot water pools with a view on the forest and the nearby river. Plus the world class Wilson Garden in San Vito, not far from Altamira.

We are located in a typical rural community, far from any big city influence. We are all small farmers (guide included) cultivating coffee, bananas, pineapples or growing livestock. We love our way of life and products, and will be happy to share it with you for a few days.

Coffee

Addicted to caffeine ? see where it comes from. Your guide is also a farmer and has a coffee plantation next to Asoprola. He will be happy to share all the secrets of the coffee arbusto cut, grains selection and "tostando" (depending on season). And of course a lot of tasting : Direct from the plantation to your blood !

Milk

Do your kids wonder where milk really come from ? A early morning cow milking experience in a real farm will clearly answer their questions and give them something to remember ! They'll later prepare their hot chocolate with the milk they brought back from the farm.

Sugar Cane

You like rum ? see how cane sugar is cultivated and cut some canes with a machete to take the cane syrup and prepare a Ti Punch in the field (cane syrup + rum + green lemon = delicious). Or eat a tender sugar cane as a sweet and healthy candy.

Bananas

Learn how to cut a banana tree with a machete and get a few bananas directly from a tree to make a banana milk shake back at Asoprola.

And many more : farm animals, cocoa trees, honey ... that's our daily life here !
